Antonio Brown is a writer and editor who has written for the publication The Atlantic, the Huffington Post, and National Geographic, among other publications, and was the editor of The Atlantic’s weekly blog, The Atlantic Wire. He has also written for The New York Times, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, The New Yorker, and The New York Observer.
He recently spoke to Wired about why he loves writing for the magazine, and how it relates to his other passions, film and music. He said, “The most important thing to me is that I get to see my work be seen. That’s why I started The Atlantic Wire. Because it’s not just a place for editors and writers to post about writing, it’s a place for writers to write about writing.
This is my favorite quote from interview. It is one of the most important ones I’ve ever read. It is the epitome of why I love The Atlantic Wire.
I love this quote because it says something different about an actual writer every day. You know what else says something different every day? A phone call from your editor. A phone call from your agent. A phone call from your publisher. These are all instances where an actual person (like you) communicates with someone, “Hey, this is the person who wrote this thing you’re reading right now.
So while an actual writer doesn’t have to follow up on every interview for every publication, an actual writer like myself does. And I love this quote because it says that, even though many people have the ability to just write things down, it does take the effort and thought to actually say it.
I love that statement. I love writing because I can. I feel like I have the privilege of learning from many people who are more skilled than me. I love the fact that I can have an opinion on anything, but never have to explain myself or my opinion.
I think I have an opinion on a lot of things, but I always have to explain myself to people. It’s just what I do. But I really believe in the value of writing. It’s easy to sit in a cubicle and stare at a computer screen and write whatever you want. It’s easy to be a cog in a big machine. But it’s a lot harder to be able to write and have it be different than what you’re thinking.
I’m a creative person who writes a lot. I love to write and I love to read. I’m not a very good writer though. To be honest, I don’t get how anyone can be good at anything. I get that I can write, I get that I can read, but it’s not what I’m good at.
I feel like we all go through phases of being able to write and doing so. For some of us, it is just a natural talent. For others, it is a skill that has to be learned. For me, I think there are a variety of different reasons why some people can’t master the art of writing. My guess is that they have a hard time making themselves accessible to the things they want to write about.
