I really like these words. I like that they mean so much more than they did on the cover of the original game. Nowhere in my life has this ever been true. But I’m not even close to the level of a true monster. I’m probably not even close to the level of a person who has to kill or be killed all the time.
I like this idea. I like that our brains are wired to like a sense of horror. Our brains are like a little kid who’s just been told you have to jump over some rocks because they’re too high. We are just that little kid. We just don’t know how to react. We just have to react. That’s how it is with us now.
This is a good thing. Because now you can see that the terror of the game does not have to be in the act itself. Yes, there will be moments where you will almost literally die. But the fear/hope/desperation to succeed and overcome this fear is what makes the game so horrifying. You can be the killer, and feel like you are doing something great, but at the same time you dont want to be.
We play this game for the thrill and the thrills of terror. The terror is in knowing that youre playing a video game with a real-life element to its story, and that when you fail, the rest of the world will likely view you as a monster. So for that reason, we are very excited about the new deluxe edition of the game.
